Relationship with HR and Top Management
It is imperative that the CEO keeps taking feedback on the Challenges faced by the employees (Bases the E-sat surveys), Keep an eye on the changing requirements of Human resource and facilitation of Budget for fulfilling training needs. On the other hand it is equally important for him to keep an eye on the processes and practices followed by the HR to procure man power and other related services. Doing this he can ensure better quality and productivity and plan the growth of high potential employees, at the same time he will also be able to have a back up resource to fulfill the void.
HR Strategies In Place
This being a star-up, the only strategy that we have is to maintain complete transparency, so that everybody is aware about the progress and requirement of the organisation. At the same time it is important that people remain focused on their core area of responsibility and expertise so that highest efficiency is achieved.
Current HR Trends:
High focus to up skill current resources, constant collaboration with educational institutes. It has been observed that HR these days, HR has started following the approach of Competency assessment and mapping with a little more diligently and hence the hiring and training has become focused and better. The usage of various Modern tools for TNA has also increased.
Leadership Programs in Place:
We being a training organisation have a strict focus on developing training programs, that focus upon increased productivity and quality and at the same time that, they should also be able to generate enough energy to spread a culture of collaborative working style. HR Challenges:
The business needs and processes are changing at a fast pace, and it has become imperative that our people should be equally dynamic and multi-skilled. It is becoming increasingly challenging one to recruit and retain such resources. Another challenge is to create a resource pool of fresh talent that may be used ti fill such a gap.
Helping to develop the country
Professional should influence professionals to use best practices and motivate each other to achieve excellence. Sharing challenges, achievements, needs and skills can also help to grow at a steady rate.
Identifying and Promoting New Leaders:
People who are Achievement oriented and have the capacity to lead by examples are ideal candidates to be leaders. The performance in current role. Ability to adapt to the changes and remain flexible are few factors that are must to become good leaders. It is important to conduct regular Reviews and RNRs to set the expectations and maintain transparency in the process of promotion, so that the co-workers have greater acceptability towards the newly acquired role and responsibilities of those who are promoted.
Pain Points:
Recruitment and Retention.
Recruiting new generation:
Generation Y is ambitious and they should be. It is important that we should be able to direct this energy in the right direction, keeping in mind the interest of people working with us. Generation Y, needs complete transparency in the process of recuitment and growth. They get easily bored with monotonous or routine work. Hence it is important that they should be made to meet with newer challenges in regular intervals and awarded for sailing through such challenges. It is also important that their leader gives helps them to acquire basic skills and authority required to performing these challenging tasks.
Improving Education system
Our education system is equipped at producing technically sound Human Resource, However, the knowledge we acquire is merely theoretical. Hence it takes time for our students the match pace with those who have been through a system that is more focused on an experiential method of education. Because of which either our students learn to go with the flow and become part of same system or we suffer brain drain. We need to have programs like "The Tutelage", designed and developed by Candid Cohort, to produce better equipped talent. Their education should have a parallel system that introduces them with the real world challenges.
Advice For Fellow HR Leaders:
HR practices are not to be followed only twice in an year (One at the time of hiring, two at the time of appraisal), HR has more important role to play in the growth of the organisation and that if not more, is equally dynamic as that of operations. (Note: HR needs to play a role in research, Analysis, Design, Development, execution and Management of the processes that lay foundation of any organisation; big or small).
Parting Thoughts
That we may leave for a One on One...... :)
Qualities that we Look For While Hiring:

Attract good people, Retain Better Performers and Advance the Best:
Transparency, sharing responsibilities, accountability and benefits in the direct proportion of intent, Involvement, efforts and initiatives.
