My important career decision

Early in my carier I opted out of a good production Engineer's job to follow my interest for the mechanical design and joined masters degree in CAD/CAM. Later on after acquiring a good knowledge of design I shifted further into project execution team. With-in six years of my design experience I dealt with both the power and Oil & Gas projects willingly to acquire a wide knoledge base.

ASME codes are Bible for any mechanical engineer in this field. B31.1 / B31.3 moreover Piping Design Book by Roger Hunt is a best guide for beginners.

Challenges faced in job

The real challenge in Oil & Gas sector is the size and large scope of work of the project. It has enormous number of equipments and wide range of work which involves knowledge of every discipline form Process to Civil to Electrical; not only Mechanical.

Managing professional as well as personal life

Its same for all professionals. Its only you, who has to decide what is good for your life; work, family or an optimum level of both. Remember one thing, we are working only to improve our lives. So make it so.

Views about 'Tech product Introduction is weak among Indians'

The government need to put more effort and resources in the Research and Development sector. There is no dearth of talent in our country but we lack resources. And its very difficult for an individual to create those resources, but a government can easily do it if it is willing to.

A good work environment is a must. If you have a good team to work with you can easily achieve even difficult targets.

On proffesional front, I am seeing myself as a project Engineer in near future; dealing with really big projects.

Its a dynamic world, you can never predict future. In present world the most important thing is to keep updated with the present trends. Like in our field its the 3D Model software like PDS and SP3D are must.
