Bangalore: Satya Dosapati, an Indian American community activist recently sent a letter to the Prosecutor's Office on Dharun Ravi case, mentioning that proper justice was not done in the case.  He wrote in the letter that there is bias from the prosecutor’s office because of Dharun's race.

Satya also raised several questions, such as - In Dharun Ravi case, prosecution has at its disposal wealth of information (Ravi's letter to Tyler which Tyler might not have seen) and the testimonies of several of Dharun Ravi friends which does not point to any bias.  Why is it that prosecution did not exercise precaution in framing those charges against Ravi?   Even after choosing to use that, then why not disclose the letter written by Tyler which could be critical in the jury decision?   There are also questions about constitution basis of the law itself which the judge called, 'muddled'?   The distress from the community also stems from that in last 30 years or so that this law was existent, it was not used even .Did not the media play a role in this?’

While concluding the letter, Satya mentioned that he is not writing it on behalf of the family and friends of Dharun Ravi, but as a community activist.

The members of the Indian-American community are planning to conduct an event in support of Dharun on May 4. The programme named ‘Support Dharun Ravi Event’ will be held in New Jersey, from 6.15 PM to 10.30 PM.

Ravi was convicted previous month for spying on his roommate Tyler Clementi, with a webcam, who was with another man. Tyler later committed suicide following the incident. He is now facing up to ten years in prison and deportation to India.
