NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to take advantage of the brand created by the Indian diaspora across the globe and this would be his key message when he addresses them at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York, according to a BJP lawmaker.

"The Prime Minister wants to take advantage of that brand created by Indian Americans," BJP Lok Sabha MP Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore told a meeting of Indian-Americans in Ashburn, Virginia, a suburb of Washington."

Shooter-turned-politician Rathore is part of a two-member BJP team lead by Vijay Jolly, convener of the party's foreign cell, touring various American cities to galvanise support among the Indian-Americans for the scheduled September 28 public address of Modi to the Indian Diaspora community from the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Rathore, who rose to fame after winning the Silver Medal in Men's Double Trap at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, said that after a long time people of India have got a chance to make India of their dreams under Modi.

Winding up his 10-city U.S tour, Jolly, who has been sent by the party to mobilise support for the New York event and get feedback from the Indian community, said non-resident Indians and diaspora have played a major role in the victory of the Modi-led BJP in the May general elections.

"I have bought the message of love from Modi," he said.

During the nearly two-week trip of the U.S, Jolly toured 10 U.S cities including Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.

In addition to the addressing impressive gathering of Indian-Americans in these cities, Jolly and Rathore met several policy makers, and lawmakers including Congressman Ed Royce, Chairman of the House foreign Affairs Committee, and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

In Los Angeles, city Mayor Eric Garcetti told them that he wants Prime Minister Modi to travel to Los Angeles in addition to his visits to New York and Washington.

The Overseas Friends of BJP-U.S.A president, Chandra Kant Patel, who accompanied the visiting BJP delegation during this tour said that there is a great enthusiasm among the Indian Americans to attend the September 28 event in New York.
