Bangalore: The board of directors of Sunnyvale Hindu temple in Calif filed a defamation suit against some Indian Americans belonging to the Reform committee who demanded for greater transparency with the financial details of the temple.

The board filed the case last year against the members of the reform committee which includes Manu Modi, Krishna Kumari, Nishan Singh, Atul Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Yash Verma and Ramana Reddy. All these members have been named as defendants in the suit and will have to appear before the Santa Clara County Superior Court on April 12 for the first hearing of the case.

The Hindu Temple South Bay Reform Committee has been protesting outside the temple every Sunday since last year April month and is also making use of media to offend the temple board. The temple officers have posted the basic rundown of expenses since 2003 on the website of the temple. But the reforms committee wants audited finances to be updated for public viewing and moreover they are demanding the election for new members for the board every two years.
