Indian NGO Honoured with 3 Awards by U.S. Organization

Bangalore: The Akshaya Patra foundation, an Indian NGO was honoured with two top awards for their excellence in reporting standards by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) Vision Awards.

Akshaya Patra received The Gold Award, for ‘excellence within industry worldwide’ and won the second award by being ranked in the list of ‘top annual reports of all industries worldwide.’ The creativity, message clarity, report financials and information accessibility of foundation, made it possible for them to bag the awards.

"This year´s annual report for The Akshaya Patra Foundation with the theme “The little blue bus that carries hope” proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition. Overall, we find this work to be outstanding", said Christine Kennedy, the Managing Director of LACP.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) also awarded the foundation with the prestigious Gold Shield for ‘Excellence in Financial Reporting’, for the third year in succession. The award was given on the basis of the annual reports and accounts of the foundation, which reflected their organizational transparency.  “The key strength of Akshaya Patra is its belief in absolute transparency in all its activities. The organization’s value systems have in fact received its due recognition through these awards”, said Madhu Sridhar, President and CEO of Akshaya Patra.

Akshaya Patra Foundation, which started functioning in 5 schools in Bangalore by providing meals to 1500 children, has turned out to be the largest NGO in the world to run midday meal programmes and presently they feed 1.3 million children per day, across 10 Indian states.
