BANGALORE: Madison Square Garden (MSG) is all set to host the biggest Indian political spectacle in the Midtown Manhattan, U.S. MSG has held a record number of events, hosting everything from political conventions of Democratic and Republicans to legendary music concerts of the Beatles and Lady Gaga.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is honorably invited by his good old friend, Bharat Barai, an Indiana physician, to address the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the U.S. on 28th of September. Barai, who is also the principle event organizer and the president of the newly organized Indian American Community Foundation, has rented the storied indoor stadium for $1 million to hold a magnificent political meet. The event is definitely set to surpass the reception of earlier Indian Prime Ministers, which were usually held in the ballrooms of five-star hotels, accommodating around 1000 people, reports Sheela Bhatt for Rediff.

The upcoming event is about to witness an overwhelming crowd of 20,000 Indian Americans. It’s a sold out event, as the 13,000 tickets are allocated for Indian Associations and 700 such associations availed the tickets, with some of them being created overnight just to get the tickets. Out of the remaining 7,000, around 500 seats are reserved for the wealthy NRIs who can afford to pay $10,000 to $25,000 ( upto 15 lakh) for a seat; also for a VIP enclosure, each ticket costs $1000 ( 6 lakh).

There are other categories like Gold and Platinum reservations for those who can afford it, with around 2 percent of the seats reserved for the handicapped. Organizers, mostly from the Overseas BJP unit are given a notice that the event must be an all inclusive, non partisan show.
