Indian American CEO Quits LightSquared

Bangalore: Sanjiv Ahuja, CEO of LightSquared, an Indian American, has quit his post following the controversies regarding the company’s satellite-enhanced wireless broadband. Currently the company is facing major problems in its attempt to develop a wholesale 4G cellular network, which resulted in Sanjiv’s resignation.

LightSquared is a company that plans to come up with an extensive 4G LTE(Long Term Evolution) wireless broadband communications network, a technology  which is incorporated with satellite coverage in United States.

Chief Network Officer of Lightsquared, Dough Smith and Chief Financial Officer of the company, Marc Montagner will take the responsibility of the CEO on temporary basis until the firm finds a new one.

 “During my tenure at LightSquared, we all worked tirelessly to create the nation’s first open wireless broadband network and provide consumers with a new wireless broadband experience,” Mr. Ahuja said in a press release. “That work continues and I wish the company and its fine management team well as they work to achieve this important goal.”

Sanjiv also holds prestigious posts in leading companies like ‘Augere’ where he is the CEO and Chairman and ‘Eaton Telecom’, as founder and chairman. Prior to this, he was in charge of diverse roles at IBM for fifteen years where he was successful in leading the entry of IBM into the telecommunications software industry.

Sanjiv completed his graduation in electrical engineering from Delhi University and did post graduation from University of Columbai in New York.
