Bharat Desai

Desai is the co-founder and Chairman of Syntel, an outsourcing company headquartered in Michigan.

He founded Syntel in 1980 and in the year 1997, the company went public.

Earlier Desai was rated among “eight self-made stars who have built tidy empires in an array of industries”, by Forbes. He was also recognized as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by the University of Michigan, USA Today and NASDAQ and the Harvard Business School awarded him with the ‘Michigan Entrepreneur Award’.

Desai is a Board Member of several educational institutions such as John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Desai holds an MBA in finance from University of Michigan and bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from IIT, Bombay. He serves on various education boards such as John F.Kennedy School of Government, Students in Free Enterprise and Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
