Bangalore: Know India Programme (KIP) is a ‘know your country’ initiative, for Indian origin students settled in other countries. This platform paves gateway for selected participants to visit India, understand their way of living, culture and tradition.

The participants of the 24th Know India Programme (KIP) recently interacted with Vayalar Ravi, the current official for Overseas India Affairs. The diaspora youth highly influence the Indian culture and they take the role of ambassadors, said Ravi during the interaction.

KIP began on 25th April drawing a finale on 15th May. 29 participants have come from seven countries including South Africa, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, Mauritius and Canada, reports ANI.

Ravi also emphasized on the pivotal role played by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, in connecting the youth diaspora with their respective countries. He gave a brief about the Ministry’s welfare programmes which are in line, special schemes for NRI’s and Overseas Indian workers. The official also distributed certificates to the participants on the occasion.

The participants of this event took part in a two day interactive session at Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA). They were also showered the opportunity of visiting many tourist locations of India; including Aurobindo Ashram, Rajghat, Akshardham Temple etc.

The participants also visited Lucknow, Banaras, Agra and rural parts of U.P. as a part of the programme. They further spent a day to learn about the different initiatives taken by the Ministry.

The 25th KIP will be held from 29th August- 18th September 2013, with Punjab as their Partner state. 729 Overseas Youth of Indian Origin have participated in the twenty editions of Know Your Indian Programme, reports ANI.

Know India Program (KIP) is a three week program; for Diaspora youth around the world, to promote the various advancements made by our country. The achievements of the country in various spheres such as social, economical, technological advancements, educational aspects are all laid down to Young Indian professionals, to gain knowledge about their country. This programme overall enables them to bind well with their country.
