BANGALORE: From top company CEOs to spelling bee competitions, Indians in the U.S. are just scaling their way on top in various disciplines and are gaining lots of attention by highlighting their skills and talent and achieving success. Bollywood movies, Indian dishes and yoga may be the common things for Indians in the U.S. But a new exhibition named ‘Beyond Bollywood’ showcases the contributions made by Indian-Americans to the American culture beyond all the glam and sparkle of Bollywood, as reported by Rediff.

In a first-of-its-kind exhibition at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, the world's largest museum and research complex, has formally opened the exhibition for the general public nearly seven years after it was first conceived. The exhibition intends to showcase the Indian-American history of 200 long years from workers who built some of the first rail-roads to the worker who toiled on farms and established successful trade routes.

Konrag Ng, Director, Asian Pacific American Centre, said, "The vibrant life, culture and history of immigrants from India and Indian Americans, is the story of America. This wonderful exhibition deepens our understanding of the American experience as lived by the Asian Pacific American communities (approximately 17 million people in the United States and the number is expected to climb upto 41 million by 2050) who have journeyed from being exotic outsiders to being the faces and voices of the future,” reports Rediff.
