Bangalore:  America has always been a dreamland for Indians and this is quite evident if you look at the increasing number of H1-B visa applications. Once you get your H-1 B visa, then the next big thing is green card, that gives you the permission to live and work anywhere in the country.

In the year 2012, 35,472 Indians with H-1 B visa received green cards, which is nearly 6 times more than the number of cards issued previous year (6000).

It is recorded to be more than 50 percentof green cards issued to all countries, according to US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The news comes at a time when a new Bill focuses on providing citizenship to attract workers to the US, giving hope to Indians chasing ‘The American Dream’, Shilpa Phadnis and Sujit John of TNN

For a person to live and work anywhere in US, one has to own a green card. Possessing H1B visas help in getting a green card comfortably. There is a notion that foreigners are trying to be kept out of this as America has implemented new set of immigration laws, but this seems to be partially true. The US is trying to bring in the best from around the world  to build a highly talented economy and this will benefit Indians in a huge manner Last year most of the Indians who received green cards were professionals in the areas of Science, technology, math and engineering.
