'Ricky' Gill

Ranjit 'Ricky' Gill is the only Indian-origin Republican who is contesting in the House of Representatives and he is contesting from California’s ninth Congressional District.

Gill has the endorsement of top Republican leaders such as Jebb Bush, the former Governor of Florida, and two Republican Governors, Nikki Haley from South Carolina and Chris Christie from New Jersey.

This youngest contestant was invited to address the party's National Convention held in Tampa, Florida on August 27; thus becoming the third Indian-American after Governors Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley to receive the invitation to speak at the national convention.

Gill is a small business owner, a family farmer, and a former member of the California State Board of Education.

He has worked for former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions, and has also served as a math and literacy teacher at KIPP Bay Area charter schools.
