BANGALORE: A career as a politician requires an extraordinary calling. However, becoming a politician and gaining popularity requires enormous undertaking in terms of time constraints and commitment in serving people.

Even as the 2014 general elections in the U.S. is still in the pipeline with more than eight months to go, as many as 10 Indian-Americans have already geared up and announced their decision to enter the race for elected public offices, including the House of Representatives.

Ami Bera

Amerish Babulal or Ami Bera has been the U.S. Representative for California's 7th congressional district since 2013. He is the only Indian-American Congressman and the third ever to seek re-election from the 7th Congressional District of California.

Bera who’s fighting hard for the drought bill in Sacramento County came out with ‘connect with me campaign’ which will make it easy for people to approach him and share their views. He’s also been successful in creating drought relief workshops to extend the support.
