'Snaptacles' from Snapchat Enlivens the Entire Video Chatting


BENGALURU: Snap, the California-based social messaging company recently announced the launch of a new range of camera integrated sunglasses; ‘Snaptacles’. Introducing innovation on eyewares, Snap’s Spectacles will enable the users to view past events in the video format. The idea is primarily based on the Google Glass, a product from Google that was abandoned a year ago. The company added some innovative features to Google’s concept and introduced ‘Snaptacles’ focused on enhancing the overall video chatting experience. Reports suggest that the new glasses are marked with a price tag of $130. Furthermore, an online post from Snap also revealed that, very soon, ‘Snaptacles’ will be available for social media maniacs across the globe.

‘Spectacles’ is currently known to be one of the world’s smallest wireless cameras. From the efficiency standpoint, the glasses are embedded with the ability to capture an entire day's "Snaps", a much needed facility in today’s lifestyle. With a 115 degree viewing field, the Spectacles’ cameras record videos from the wearer’s perspective. Additionally, it also captures video fragments for sharing using the Snapchat app. Focusing on connectivity, the glasses swiftly connects to the Snap software via Bluetooth or Wifi.

Backing the current popularity of Snapchat, the company estimates that more than 100 million users across the globe are using the app for sending images, text messages and videos that disappears after being viewed.

GoPro’s mini-cameras are also based on the similar concept of enabling users to capture videos of their personal experiences from their own perspectives. Predicting the future scenario, Snaptacles are expected to stage a tough competition against GoPro, as they arrive with a limited supply in the global market.
