iOS 7 Auto Update Gets Apple CEO Into Court

Bangalore: Apple CEO, Tim Cook is troubled with the automatic update feature introduced in their latest mobile OS, iOS 7. An unhappy customer Mark Menacher dared to sue Cook, for automatically updating his OS while connected to an internet source, reports TOI. Menacher wants the installed file to be removed from his Apple devices and demands a compensation of $50.

The complaint filed by Menacher in California's Superior Court says "Apple's disregard for customer preferences in relation to iOS 7 is corporate thuggery. Steve Jobs was reportedly rough on company employees in pursuit of happy customers, but Tim Cook apparently cultivates a culture of contempt for customer satisfaction in pursuit of corporate profits." He is also planning to escalate the issue to a higher court to turn it into a class action suit.

There have been several technical issues with iOS 7 update, from customers complaining long wait time for download to automatic installation without user permission. There have been reports about users becoming unhappy as their iPhone4 has slowed down after updation and the parallax effect of iOS7 making them feel dizzy. Apple is forcing users to adopt the new operating system without providing any option for reversing the upgrade. Analytics firm Mixpanel estimates that over 70 percent of the Apple devices currently run on iOS7.
