YouTube Soon To Launch Paid Videos


Bangalore: Google is planning to launch paid video channels on YouTube later this year. This move from search giant is to boost its revenues and also open up gates for brands and video producers to make some money, reports Reuters.

YouTube is reaching out to several video producers asking them to submit an application to create for-pay channels, according to a report from AdAge. It also stated that the first such channels will be made available to the users in the second quarter and YouTube is said to charge about $1 to $5 per month for subscription.

YouTube which houses largest number of amateur, self shot videos and gained popularity is now moving towards hosting professional grade video programs upon subscription. YouTube CEO, Salar Kamangar, stated that there was strong demand among certain YouTube video producers, such as video game networks, to offer fee-based programmes. "They have such a big audiences that they can start to segment their audiences into those that are willing to pay a higher amount," Kamangar told Reuters.
