Yatra.com Forgets To Renew Domain Name; Goes Down

Bangalore: One of India’s popular travel websites, Yatra.com, was reportedly shutdown on Saturday following the failure to renew its domain name. The website is said to be registered on August 9, 2000, and expired on August 9, 2013.

The closedown resulted in much inconvenience to the users who booked their travel on Yatra.com and the company too was in fix, as the situation pumped down its money counters.

When users tried to access the website on Friday, it showed, “Error: Page cannot be displayed. Please contact your service provider for more details.”

Yatra.com on social networking sites later stated, "We are facing some technical difficulties with our DNS servers on account of which some of you are unable to access our site. We are working on this and hope to have it resolved in the next couple of hours. For any urgent cancellations or rescheduling, call us at 1860-5000-500".

Various users reacted to the company’s tweet in varied ways, like a tweet said, “How can @YatraHolidays forget to renew their domain?! I get like 10 notifications before my domain expires!!”

The website seems to be working all fine at present, but it did went through some ridicule for not doing as simple a job like- renewing the domain name.
