Ukrainian Students Design Bed-Making Robot

Bangalore: Six students from University in Ukraine have designed a robot that can make a bed, the Segodnya newspaper reported on Thursday.

The students are from the Dnepropetrovsk National University in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine's fourth largest city with about a million inhabitants.

The robot can change bedclothes and remove stains from bed sheets, quoted Anastasia Rudenko, Project Manager as said by Xinhua.

The invention won a competition at the Student Research Conference Business Week-2012 in Paris. "This is a real project, not fiction," Rudenko said.

The robot could go into mass production soon at the price of $200-800 depending on its characteristics. Once the robot is put to use, it will help people maintain order at home and save time for sleep in the morning, she said.

In addition, a science fiction restaurant in China has employed robots to cook, serve, entertain and work as receptionists. Around 18 robots are employed in the restaurant which is situated in the Heilongjiang province. Each one glides out of the kitchen to provide dishes, with specialty robots including a dumpling and a noodle robot.
