Twitter's New App Vine, 'Filled With Porn'

Bangalore: Vine, a newly launched six-second video app by the popular social networking site, Twitter seems to have turned out to be a porn hub within days of its launch. As per the reports, Vine has come under fire as it is being filled with sexually-explicit content.

The app which is available on iPhone and iPod touch lets users create and share six-second clips. As per Vine’s terms of service, posting of pornographic or sexually explicit content is not against the policy, which led to the tweet of explicit images. The users have the right to flag the videos which they find offensive and Twitter has the authority to warn the users to bypass a clip if there are too many complaints.

Alike Twitter, users can search the platform by hashtags. Hence, technology commentors started realizing the issue when a quick run of the term porn, or a vast range of sexual tags, immediately produced a multitude of dirty videos, stated the reports.

A TechCrunch report pointed that Twitter is known for their censorship free attitude and shifts only when it turns into a question of legality. In order to regulate the videos, the only function in the app is to use a button where viewers can mark a video as inappropriate.

Even though a certain number of people mark the video as inappropriate, the tag will not necessarily remove the video. Rather, a warning will be given before the video but it will be still allowed to view.
