#9 Max, The 50,000-Year-Old Woolly Mammoth

Sold for: $95,000 (approximately 52 lakhs)

Year: 2004

One of the best preserved and most complete examples of a prehistoric woolly mammoth skeleton, named ‘Max’ owned by his Dutch owner appeared as an eBay listing in 2004. The reason for sale was that the mammoth’s owner wanted back the space that a full-sized woolly mammoth occupied which wasn’t a restraint for the buyer.

#8 Genuine Piece of Planet Mars

Sold for: $450,000 (approx 2.5 crore)

Year: 2005

A meteorite of Martian fell to earth in central Nigeria in 1962, which is known to be the largest specimen. Named as Zagami, it is 1.3 billion year old meteorite which weighs almost 18000 grams was part of a privately owned collection until it was on auction on eBay in September 2005. The handsomely sized chunk of the Red Planet during its auction, was offered with a certificate of authenticity signed by renowned geologist and meteor expert, Dr. John Saul.
