The Discrete Device That Records Your Entire Life

Bangalore:  Everybody on the earth, at some point of life would wish for a total recall- I.e. remember with clarity, every detail of the events of one's life. For such people, Martin Kallstrom, is building a device, which will document every point of your life in intervals of 30 seconds.

The device is called Memoto- a wearable “lifelogging” camera with size of a postage stamp, which automatically takes two photos a minute, 1920 pictures a day and save it to a private site. The project, which was put in Kickstarter for public support had raised its $75,000 fundraising goal in hours and has already received $ 524,766 in backing from more than 2,600 funders.

The camera, which is currently under development, is expected to ship in February 2013. According to Kallstrom, “With Memoto, you can effortlessly travel back in time to that moment when you met the love of your life, the day your daughter took her first step, or that night you laughed the night away with friends. Imagine if you could capture and relive every memorable moment of your life."

The device has no buttons. It has only a battery level indicator, and a weather protected wide angle camera which takes geotagged pictures. According to Memoto’s website, the camera and the app work together to give you pictures of every single moment of your life, complete with information on when you took it and where you were. This means that you can revisit any moment of your past. Whenever you connect the device to a computer for charging, the pictures will be automatically uploaded into Memoto’s servers.

The product according to the Kickstarter, has started tooling for plastic injection molding.
