Terrorists Keen on Internet, Luring Tech Savvy Youth


Bangalore: The recent attacks in Boston has left investigating agencies on high alert as terror groups now use new methods to exploit their plans. The use of sophisticated internet-based tools and highly equipped gadgets is turning them more tech-savvy, reports TOI.

The terror groups are targeting youths who are obsessed with gadgets as this would help the anti social elements to make use of their knowledge to pass on their internal communication in safe manner.

"Educated youngsters who have inclination for gadgets are being lured, after the arrest of several suspects in the recent past, it became clear that recruitment of locals was done on the internet. Also, the handlers and the members of their modules use only the net since it is difficult for the investigating agencies to track the communication unless there is specific information," said the intelligent wing.

As per sources this trend has increased after 26/11 Mumbai attack, terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) are reportedly increasing the use of internet-based communication as it enables them to maintain their anonymity. Reportedly, they use various codes, text messages and voice to pass on their information.
