Search Giant 'Google' To Unveil Android Powered Set-Top Box


BANGALORE: As growing demand for set-top box products is gradually increasing in the emerging markets, the worldwide set-top box unit shipments is likely to increase year after year particularly for cable and satellite STB products in countries such as India and China. But the bigger picture here is, by seeing its growing demand the world's best search giant company ‘Goggle’ is readying a android powered set-top box, that will let users view content, listen to music, and play games on their television sets, reports Times of India.

The annocement came from Google when it kicked of its developer conference in San Francisco, and the list doesn’t end there as the search giant plans to unveil new Android software for TVs and also Android Wear smartwatches from its partners such as Samsung and LG.

This latest move to bring Android powered software into TVs marks Google's third major venture into the television industry. The company's previous attempts that include Google TVs didn’t  reportedly do well as expected by the company and fell flat due to competition. Many of its Android partners including Samsung and LG are also relying on their own software to drive their TVs and set-top boxes.

Keeping all this odds against, Google sighting on the demand for large market for smart TVs and streaming media boxes, the company is now trying to foray the set-top box market with another try.

Google’s android powered set-top box is set to go head-to-head with Apple, Roku, and Amazon with set-top boxes that can stream media and play games.
