New Facebook API for Developers: Who, Where, What and When

Bangalore: The most interesting stories usually accompany all details regarding where and when it happened, who were involved and a beautiful picture of the incident, at least this is what Facebook said as it launched its new API, which allows developers to build apps that help people fill their timeline with more detailed moments.

Using the new APIs, now a developer can build an app which adds location and friends to any of your photo, link or status written from the app. For example an app used to share your favorite food can make it possible to add where you ate and who you were with. Basically, Facebook is giving developers the same functions which are now available to users when they create status updates.

Users still have the same privacy controls similar to any other posts. If they are tagged via an app, they can approve it, reject it or hide it based on the settings.

Facebook also improved its search functions for places and finding posts from friends by location.

It will be interesting to see what apps the developers come up with the help of new APIs.
