New Delhi: The Planning Commission and the National Innovation Council will organize the first ever 'hackathon' on the 12thFive-Year Plan on April 6 and 7.

The hackathon, in which computer programmers and others collaborate on software projects, will invite citizens to innovatively communicate the 12th Plan (2012-17) through creative visualizations and software applications, an official statement said.

The event is being organized simultaneously in 11 locations across India and participants can also join virtually, the statement said.

"Thousands of young creative designers, coders, film-makers along with policy and development enthusiasts will visualize and narrate the 12th Plan through infographics, short films, and support the initiatives proposed in the Plan by developing software applications," it added.

The registration for the hackathon will start online from March 22-25. The details about the event are available at www.data.gov.in/hackathon.

The Commission claims that the 12th Plan is the product of unprecedented participation from Indian citizens and civil society to set out a vision for India's progress over the next five years.

Now the Commission and the Council want similar participation to visualize and articulate its rich and insightful content to India, the statement said.
