Microsoft In Talks With Lava And Micromax For Windows Smartphones


Bangalore: Android is currently the undisputed market leader in the Smartphone OS segment in India and elsewhere as well with it hitting over 80 percent market share for Smartphone shipments worldwide, according to IDC. But Microsoft seems to be plotting Android’s downfall come next year. Even though Windows Phone is making slow and steady progress, it is still far behind Android today. To hasten this progress Microsoft is supposedly in talks with Indian phone makers such as Lava and Micromax to launch devices running WP (Windows Phone) sometime in the first half of next year, reports The Times of India.

Globally, Microsoft is yet to see widespread adoption of the Windows Phone mobile platform. As of now, Nokia which was recently acquired my Microsoft is the only company to be backing the Windows platform while the rest of the manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Sony and even the local handset manufacturers like Micromax, Lava, Karbonn are opting for Android.
