Microsoft Branded Windows 8 Smartphone On The Way: Rumor

Bangalore: The rumors are spreading like wildfire ever since the statement “Microsoft made hardware to be available starting with release of Windows 8 and Windows RT,” made earlier this year by the company. And now, with the arrival of Surface tablets on October 26, speculations abound on Microsoft bringing its own Windows Smartphone- Reports from China Times and ZDNet fuel the rumors.

According to China Times, it is a smart move by Microsoft if it come up with its own Smartphone since the company is working on its own hardware. This will help Windows Phone 8 OS to jumpstart  in an already crowded OS market.

The modus operandi of the company till now was OEM (original equipment manufacturer), that is, running their software on someone else’s hardware. The rumor could be shocking to the company’s OEM partners like Samsung, HTC, and especially Nokia, which is fighting for its space in competitive mobile market with its flagship windows mobiles.

Microsoft CEO, Ballmer said “We are big believers in our hardware partners and together we’re focused on bringing Windows Phone 8 to market with them”. The statement may try to sooth the company’s OEMs, but it won’t be cutting down on their anxiety; have no options but make hardware to accommodate Windows software, and compete with Microsoft devices.

With all this brouhaha about Microsoft’s Smartphone, the company is not attempting to clear the air any time soon. So just wait and see if the time can squash the rumors or rumors turn in to reality.
