Instagram Reaches Social Media Milestone
Bangalore: Instagram, the popular photo-sharing social network purchased by Facebook last year has hit 100 million monthly active users. The mobile app which expanded its web presence firmly within few days of its launch announced about its milestone by uploading a photo to the social networking site.
Even though Instagram’s 100 million doesn’t compare to more than 1 billion Facebook users each month, Instagram’s active user base is now roughly half of what Twitter has. Instagram’s accomplishment has turned out to be impressive since it’s been less than 3 years after its launch. Users can only access it through an iPhone or Android device to create an account.
According to LA Times, "Today, we're excited to announce that there are currently 100,000,000 active users on Instagram," a caption for a photo of the Instagram team says. "You read that number right -- one hundred million people use Instagram every month!"
Last month, the photo-sharing social network reached 90 million users, which proves to keep up the pace even though other social networks including Google+ and LinkedIn have more active users.
