India's Biggest Gaming Carnival Held at Noida

Bangalore: After earning $800 million this year, as per a recent NASCOMM report, the Indian gaming industry was in full throttle with the country’s largest video game carnival. Held in Noida over the weekend the game carnival attracted amateur and professional participants from all over the world.

The competition saw an unusually high strength of female participants who were on a roll as far as winning the events is considered. "When we play against the guys, they think we're girls, we can't play. But then we beat the guys and there's a whole new situation brewing", said Anamika, an Indian gamer, when she was asked by IBNLIVE about the level of competition against boys.

Well known professional gaming teams like Orange Esports and MITH were in the run for 1.5 crore of total prize money. The team gaming champion was awarded 30 Lakhs  and a sum of 7.5 Lakhs was awarded to the individual gaming champion. There were a lot of teams which had come from schools and colleges as well.

But all of it wasn’t a merry affair. There were a lot of complaints over the poor organization and the unavailability of good gaming computers. In spite of all the hurdles the carnival was a fairly successful event and a huge stride as far as gaming in India is considered and the odds are that there will be a lot many of these events coming in the future.
