It’s an emotional business which breeds endless deliberations. But some people had hit the right string with names which were instantly loved and became the iconic products in tech’s history.

Here is a look into how some of these tech’s most iconic products- from iPod to Wikipedia- got their names.

#10 iPod

In 2001, Steve Jobs iMac was leading Apple’s battle for a comeback. Jobs wanted to create gadgets with iMac as the hub. Vinnie Chieco, a freelance copywriter was called by Apple to figure out how to introduce new music player to the public. After Chieco saw a prototype, he brainstormed on Job’s concept of central computer (iMac) or hub which connects all gadgets. Suddenly the famous "Open the pod bay door, Hal!” phrase from movie ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ stuck his mind- The Spaceship as hub and all the small pods coming to refuel from the ship. Voila! “Pod” was born and he added a final “i” to show connection to its hub, iMac.
