HP to Amalgamate its PC and Printer Division

Bangalore: Hewlett Packard the technology company is mulling over on combining its PC and profitable printer division, according to sources who spoke on the conditions of anonymity to AllThingsD as the information is not officially announced yet.

This amalgamation of personal systems group and printing unit, should it occur, would probably be the first foremost and significant change within the company since Meg Whitman took over in September as the President and CEO of HP.

According to AllthingsD,  Vyomesh Joshi the EVP of HP Imaging and Printing group will leave the company and Todd Bradley who heads the personal systems division will lead the new PC-Printer unit.

Though HP is still the leader in PC sales market but the growth of that division is falling and has been dwindling since the mobiles and tablets because of their widespread usage globally have outnumbered the PC sales. Therefore the company in an effort to keep its core personal computing business in an upmarket state is trying to reinvent itself as a major enterprise computing provider.

According to sources who spoke to AllThingsD said that wants to combine these two units so that it can approach customers together with unified product offerings. Market Statistics show that HP’s print division which is officially known as the HP Imaging and Printing Group generates the highest revenue in printing sector as the company sells more printers and ink than any of its competitors, and enjoys the highest margins on its ink.
