BANGALORE: Google has announced that its ‘Google Now’ voice search service recognizes Indian accents better now. The search on it already offers up to 47 regional languages around the world rolling out its services for India, where the Smart phone market is booming right now and the voice-based searches is also set to grow in the near future, reports IBN live.

Apparently, Google has worked with close to 700 volunteers in India to get a hold of the pronunciation of words to generate a specified language model for the Indian accent to power the voice search.

“From asking Google where you can watch the latest movie to finding out cricket scores at the touch of a button, Google is there to help you get the answers you need. We’re delighted to showcase the improvements we’ve made to Search for Indian users today. These features demonstrate Google’s commitment to India and to continually improving Indian users’ search experience,” said Mr. Sandeep Menon, Head of Marketing, Google India, reports free press journal.

Google also gives you answers to the questions asked instead of giving you queries on the screen and also recognizes voice commands like sending a message or to call people. The voice search is available on the devices running Android OS starting from the version 2.3, iOS using the Google search app and on the desktop PC’s with a chrome browser.
