Google Reveals Android Wear, An Exclusive OS For Wearable Gadgets

BANGALORE: Google has done it again, after blockbuster Android mobile platform and amazing Google Glass gizmo, the search giant as now revealed Android Wear, an exclusive operating system for wearable gadgets like smart watches.

Previously a couple of Google’s OEM partners such as Samsung and Sony tried their hand at smart watches by tweaking Android mobile OS, but they did not find huge adoption rate as yet. Hence, Android Wear, which is apparently based on Google Glass, could be an interesting step taken up by Mountain View based company which can ultimately make smart watches ubiquitous as Smartphones.

The company has quietly released two videos showing its Android Wear on the smart watches manufactured by LG and Motorola. No surprise the videos went viral, as the viewers found the watches looked like no others which we have seen lately.

Other than being the best buddy to your Smartphone, these watches based on Android Wear may come loaded with amazing features. The first to get your attention is its fitness component showing you "real-time speed, distance and time information on your wrist for your run, cycle or walk," reports The Verge. Hence, it is quite obvious that Google Maps too are integrated in the watch OS.
