Flipkart Saga: Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal Takes Million Dollar Paychecks


Bangalore: Poster boys of Indian e-commerce success story, Sachin Bhansal and Binny Bhansal, are flaunting their million dollar pay checks within 6 years of founding Flipkart. They took home a whopping Rs 10.25 crore (about $1.7 million) remuneration each, in the six months between September 2011 and March 2012, according to the recent filing with the corporate affairs ministry, reports Economic Times.

The details of the remunerations are not available, but a company spokesperson said that the co-founders get a base salary of 50 lack per annum, and the money also flows in the form of bonuses and returns from share sales.  "It's a proof that entrepreneurship in India, if done right, can be extremely rewarding," said Sachin Bansal, CEO of Flipkart.

Flipkart has raised $540 million since 2007 from leading investors, which includes Naspers, Tiger Global, Accel Partners, Dragoneer, Morgan Stanley, Sofina and Vulcan Capital. The latest $360-million fundraise, which closed last week, valued the company at $1.5 billion (over Rs 9,200 crore).
