Finally, Microsoft Office Comes To Android, But For A Price

Bangalore: Microsoft has finally decided to issue its Office 365 for Android platform. The software started rolling out from yesterday and it costs a $100-a-year for subscription and won’t be sold separately.  As of now it is only compatible with Android Smartphone that runs on ICS or above, but it won’t work on Android tablets just as it doesn’t on iPads, reports AP. At first, it’s available only in the U.S., though the company plans to expand to 117 markets with versions in more than 30 languages.

Office 365 came on the heels of its release for the iPhones last month. Microsoft is putting it all to make its product compelling on other platforms too; without removing an advantage that tablet computers running on Windows now have, viz. the ability to run popular office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
