Facebook To Give The 'Vine' Treatment To Instagram

Bangalore: So far, the tech world has been contemplating on Facebook’s plans with Instagram after the $1 billion acquisition that made headlines. Apparently, the social networking giant was working on a “big idea” with its acquisition; and if the reports are to be believed, Instagram is soon getting a new feature- video.

Facebook is hosting a press event on June 20, and according to Reuters, the invite read like this, “A small team has been working on a big idea. Join us for coffee and learn about a new product.” The reports are pointing to a whole new Instagram app with video features, just like the Vine app released by Twitter.

According to Firstpost, Facebook was testing this feature internally. However it is not clear whether the videos will get filters like the Instagram pictures. It will supposedly allow users to upload between five to 10 seconds of video from their mobile device to the photo sharing website. The new feature may also take advantage of the hashtags that Facebook introduced recently.

Let’s wait till the event to know what Facebook’s “big idea” is.
