Cheap iPhone Will Kill The iPhone Sales: Analyst

Bangalore: Apple’s effort to mark their presence in the mid level Smartphone market with the release of cheaper iPhones may result in decreased iPhone 5 sales and hurt profit margin, according to Steve Milunovich, a research analyst at UBS, a company that provides financial services.

In the research note, Milunovich said that the rumored cheaper iPhone will account for 53 percent of the total Smartphone sales for the company by the end of next year. However he also added that the handset will contribute only 3 percent of the total iPhone sales in 2013.

The report says that Apple will sell about 92 million units of the cheaper iPhone by end of the next year, however due to low price it will hurt the company’s margin. The note also suggests the possibility of launching the device by the end of the year.
