Apple's App Store Gets Indian Rupee Pricing

Bangalore: Apple’s ambitions with app store, iPhone 5 and global expansions is finally touching the Indian shores as company started to offer local currency support to its app store transactions. So users will now be able to download paid applications and contents from the store in Indian Rupee.

The move by Apple will also benefit the developer community of the country who sells apps in the App Store. In return, it will help Apple growing local use of paid apps, and could also spur the creation of more localized apps.

Earlier, all the transactions in local app stores were processed in Dollars, which to the customers and developers in a country like India, was a big inconvenience. With the Rupee support, the transactions are expected to increase fuelled by the transparency. Google Play Store had also recently announced the availability of local currency support.

Meanwhile, Apple’s latest heartthrob, iPhone 5 has not yet touched the Indian soil. Eventhough the company had decided its India launch this weekend, shipment delays had pushed it to next week.
