Apple Hires Burberry's CEO To polish Brand- Could Be Next CEO

Bangalore: Apple has hired Burberry’s CEO Angela Ahrendts, banking on her charisma of transforming a faded British brand into a symbol of global luxury which attracted wealthy clientele. As Senior Vice President at Retail Operations, Ahrendts will run Apple’s retail stores and online site, reports Business Insider.

Ahrendts’ hiring is critical to Cupertino based company as its retail stores are a major competitive advantage, and since ousting its prior retail chief Ron Johnson last October, Apple has been searching for the right person to run the business for almost a year.

She put technology in the forefront of Burberry’s brand strategy. The company established a strong presence on Facebook and other social media and built a unified experience for its online marketplace and store in the far-flung places like China, which Apple is eying too to establish its brand.
