Apple Devices Get 8 New Features


BENGALURU—Apple revealed improved updates for its maps, messaging and Siri voice assistant. Moreover, Apple is adding an “SOS” feature to the Apple Watch to automatically call for help in case of emergency situations.

The Apple Worldwide developers Conference, that lasted for one week, in San Francisco, showcased a premiere for all the new features for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Mac software.

Better messaging

Vying to make its messaging app even smarter, versatile and engaging, Apple has released an upcoming update to its iPhone and iPad software.

After the new update, users can change the size of the bubbles bordering the text to express the feelings that is essential to the words. For example, an expression of love will be shown in a bigger bubble compared to a feeling which conveys condolence which might be displayed in a comparatively smaller bubble.

With the aid of machine learning, the updated app will automatically suggest emojis to place next to the texts.

Siri on computers

Siri which was introduced on iPhones in 2011 is ready to assist users of Mac computers. The availability of Siri on computers follows a similar trend in which Microsoft and Google have created similar voice services for their operating systems for computers. Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant was added by the company to Windows 10 operating system released last year. Apple is also giving way for Siri to work with other applications made by other companies. This alteration will let users to leverage Siri to the fullest and get things done more quickly.

Using a unique means called as differential privacy, Apple will be able to make Siri smarter. Apple using non-personal information in aggregate to teach Siri new tricks, and then having the entire personalization takes place on the individual device explained Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy.
