A New Video Platform To Take On Youtube And Vimeo

BANGALORE: A new video hosting platform for lifestyle content, Wonder PL launched on March 13, is aiming to take over the popularity of YouTube and Vimeo, reports Reuters.

"As video consumption online and mobile continues to grow at unprecedented rates, we saw an addressable market in quality lifestyle video content that was being overlooked by traditional players," said Sofia Fenichell, Founder and CEO of Wonder PL, reports PR Newswire. Fenichell further added, “Wonder PL was created to deliver a professional video platform for content creators that make good business sense, while ensuring an enjoyable experience for consumers. We didn't think the two had to be mutually exclusive and we are finding out that we were right."

And interestingly, Wonder PL is backed by Universal music Group, Qualcomm Ventures, former Apple Executive Pascal Cagni and Andrew Creighton, President of Vice media. Wonder, mainly targeting the women, offers content from food to entertainment to wellness. Apparently, Wonder is after brands and content creators like National film board of China and Chef Tom Aikens.

In addition, the online video platform features HD streaming with the most sophisticated hosting through ooyala, fully customizable player, data driven programming for creators targeting viewers, royalty free music from epidemic sounds and ‘click to view more’, ‘click to buy’ to allow users to use the content provider sites.
