Bangalore: Technology billionaires always find some extraordinary ways to spend their money, like the latest news about people including Larry Page and Eric Schmidt, bankrolling a venture to survey and extract precious metals and rare minerals from asteroids that orbit near Earth.

It’s not for the first time that tech money is finding its way to space. There was Amazon’s Moon Lander to Elon Musk’s passenger rocket to mars.  Astronautical excursions, which come with eight-figured price tags are practically a status symbol among the tech billionaires.

Sergey Brin and Space Adventures

Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin is among the 5 other people who have reserved a seat on future orbital spaceflights from Space Adventures-The only company claimed to have sent private citizens to space. He invested $5 million to be a part of Space Adventures’ Orbital Mission Explorers Circle. The rate for the trip range from $20 million (or less) to $35 million (or more). Sergey invested the money in 2008 and if he goes through the purchase, he will have to invest millions more in the coming years.
