44 Percent of Total Twitter users Never Tweeted Even Once: Report

BANGALORE:  Twitter had recently announced that it had 244 million active users in the last quarter of 2013. But, according to Twopcharts, a social media tracking site, out of the total users on Twitter 44 percent of them have never tweeted even once. The study also interestingly points out the fact that about 391 million users have 0 followers and 232 million ones do not follow anyone. As reported by the Tech 2.

Twopcharts highlighted the retention issues on twitter, which says 542.1 million users have just tried out the account by sending just a single tweet. Out of the rest who have tweeted only once, just 126 million have tweeted in the past 30 days and about half of them have sent their last tweet a year ago. Further, the report also states that 30 percent of the users have only about 1 to 10 tweets from their accounts and only 13 percent of the registered twitter accounts have more than 100 tweets.

However, adding to the fact that Twopcharts only considered users who tweet a message and who have re tweeted, while Twitter considers a user who logs into their account atleast once a month as a ‘monthly active user’—a scenario where no tweeting is required.  Twitter’s previous report said that out of 40 percent of the 20 million new accounts, users have atleast sent one tweet in the first month they have signed up.
