3D Printer Market In A New Stage Of Development


Bangalore: 3D printing can be considered as a burgeoning industry despite of high levels of hype in the technology’s potential. The most recent news on astronauts using a 3D printer in space next year is an indication of surge in this industry. Gartner for the first time in its new report predicts worldwide shipments of sub-$100,000 3D printers will grow by 49 percent this year, to reach a total of 56,507 units. Whereas by 2014 the rate of growth in the 3D printing market is anticipated to rise to 75 percent with fuelling shipments of 98,065 units.

“The 3D printer market has reached its inflection point,” said Pete Basiliere, research director at Gartner. He added that, even though it’s a nascent market hype outshines the technical realities, and with the rise of buyers interests both hardware software and service providers are compelled to offer easier to use tools that cater high quality positive benefits.
