The co-founder of the software giant Microsoft with Paul Allen, Bill Gates held the title of “world’s richest man” man for a long time. Even after all his philanthropic works and donations, he is yet the second richest man in the world. But he's also had an amazing personal arc. He started out as a sharp-tongued, brilliant-but-brutal businessman who steered his company into a massive antitrust lawsuit. Today he's known for his charity, working on some of world's most difficult problems like clean water and poverty.

He and his buddy Warren Buffett also created the Giving Pledge, a campaign in which they persuade other wealthy people to promise to give most of their money away to philanthropic causes.
