Bangalore: A person chanced upon coincidence after learning about the exploding Internet use and U.S.  Court ruling which stated, “Online retailers don't have to collect sales taxes in states where they lack a physical presence.” He made a cross-country drive from New York to Seattle, writing up the business plan on the way for online sales company and he initially set it up in his garage— the company made billions.  

And another person attending Harvard College, in his sophomore year, wrote a notorious application that he called Facemash, which allowed students on the college's network to vote on the relative attractiveness of other students. It was shut down within days, and led to disciplinary action. Then he launched another website from his dormitory room, but this time he became a billionaire.

There are lots of such stories where an idea got transformed into billion dollar company, all thanks to the internet. The first person was Jeff Bezos, who now owns the world’s largest online retail, Amazon.com and the second person was Mark Zuckerberg, with his dormitory launched Facebook.com.

Net Worth, $2.8 Billion

William Ding, AKA Ding Lei, is the founder and CEO of NetEase, which owns 163.com, one of the 25 largest websites in the world with revenues of nearly $8 billion a year. At one point Ding was the richest person in China but his net worth has dropped since then to a still respectable $2.8 billion. He made significant contributions to the development of computer networks in mainland China.
