15 Nations With Highest Internet Freedom


Bangalore: Internet has become the most common ingredient in day to day life. With ability to spread and receive information world wide, there rises the question of how much freedom must internet get; and different countries have different degree of freedom granted to internet.

As of 2012, nearly a third of the world’s population has used internet. Freedom House conducted a study in 47 countries to measure the internet freedom, and found that there is steady rise in restrictions over it, and also the method of control are slowly evolving and becoming less noticeable. Read on to know 15 countries with highest internet freedom, as compiled by Yahoo Finance.

#15 Nigeria:

Nigeria saw remarkable growth in ICT (information and communication technology) sector in 2011, with the pronounced use of ICTs during the April elections and with the mid-year announcement of a new communication minister. The online media has been completely free from restrictions, though a blogger got detained for questioning. The government does not carry any filtration of content, while the over all internet access is still limited to Nigerians; there is four times increase in the internet users.
