#13 3dfx Interactive

3dfx was the creator of the esteemed Voodoo PC video card line. The Voodoo heralded a new era of high-performance and high-quality 3D graphics for gaming.

It was a pioneer in the field from the late 1990s until 2000, when it underwent one of the most high-profile demises in the history of the PC industry for various wrong decisions.

Its intellectual assets (and many employees) were acquired by its rival, Nvidia. 3dfx Interactive filed for bankruptcy on October 15, 2002.

The Voodoo2’s SLI technology lived on through NVIDIA, and ATI also developed its CrossFire platform based on the same concept.
