#10 One Laptop Per Child

Nicholas Negroponte, an American architect best known as the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab, founded One Laptop per Child Association (OLPC). The foundation as far donated 1.84 million laptops and tablet devices to 1.84 million kids around the world. The gadgets are small, inexpensive, costing about $200 each and designed to be kid-friendly. Earlier this year it was reported that illiterate Ethiopian kids given OPLC laptops with no instructions, they learned to operate the devices on their own within five months and also learned how to hack the Android OS powered devices.

With android devices becoming cheaper day-by-day, we can expect the One Laptop per Child Association to spread its wings wider to care for illiterate kids across the world.
